Field Day 2010

With the sun shining down on Victoria Park it seemed like Field Day was not going to be plagued by rain, despite the early morning shower that started to bring back memories of previous years. The line up, as always, showcased some of the best new talent from the folds of the independent music scene as well as some legendary acts such as John Peel's favourite band, The Fall. The village fete feel really works to keep the festival goers content and in good spirits, highlighted by the usual hay fight.
Hear No Evil's office playlisted bands featured heavily and after our 4 ticket give away it was nice to see James of Fallon and friends enjoying the day. Highlights for us were Mount Kimbie, Gold Panda (playing in the too small Blogger's Delight Stage), Toro y moi, Esben and the Witch, Caribou and the mighty Moderat.
There were also some slightly misplaced slots, probably highlighting the high standard, but it would have been nice to see Ramadanman's 'Work Them' and ?Glut' go off in a crowded tent rather than him being, rather unceremoniously and quite literally, wheeled off before and after Lightspeed Champion. All in all it was a great day of great music with great people and great weather... roll on 2011.
