Ones to DEFINITELY watch, 2012

Posted 6 Feb 2012 by Roscoe

Every man and his dog seem to have an opinion on who's going to be the 'breakthrough' act of 2012.

Here at HNE towers we have feverishly scoured the best music and culture blogs, brains and publications and amassed all the findings (ignoring 99% of them due to blandness) to create our very own predictional 2012 "Ones To DEFINITELY Watch" mix. Especially for you!

We kick off with a 21 year old YouTube sensation Gabrielle Aplin and her new track 'Home'. Ben Howard follows, a Devonshire lad with a superstar nu-folk voice. We feature a great track from his debut album, 'Every Kingdom'. Clock Opera will be massive this year and you can hear why in this snapshot from the debut album, out in spring.

YADi provide refreshingly unapologetic pop, followed by the awesome Greek-Jamaican Londoner Lianne La Havas who shows exactly why she's already dueting with the likes of Willy Mason on her stunning track, 'No Room For Doubt'.

The epic ethereal synth duo 'Alpines' will compel your attention with their single 'Cocoon' as will Oliver Tank's instrumental organic electronica on 'Last Night I Heard Everything'.

Hamburg native David August is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with on the house scene and his string of releases last year on Diynamic culminated with the amazing 'You Got to Love Me' featured here.

We finish with Goyte, Grimes and Friends - the 'too-talented-for-their-own-good-post-pop' outfits that will undoubtedly smash it this year. And finally, Valentina and Universal Record's new darling Azealia Banks whose self released track '212' is quickly approaching 3 million hits on YouTube.

Keep your ears peeled for all these talented folk in the year ahead. Oh, and enjoy our mix.
