The Music And Sound Awards Nomination 2012

Posted 15 Jan 2012 by Pete

The guys over at Music & Sound Awards have assembled a crack team of London advertising's finest to cast their eye over the industry. 2012 is the inaugural year for the awards and we're honoured to be nominated for Best Original Composition in Viral Advertising for our work on the ASOS Urban Tour website. It was a fantastic project to work on and it feels great to get a nod of approval directed our way.

Working with our Scandinavian partners, Plan8, we created bespoke compositions to accompany each breakout section and using our groundbreaking SoundController technology we seamlessly linked the audio to visuals depending on how the user navigates the site. It resulted in an immersive experience with the music central to the journey.

It wasn't long before the project had gone viral. The YouTube preview alone racked up over 6.2 million views and ended up being the third most viewed advert in 2011 on YouTube in the UK.

The importance of music in advertising cannot be underestimated and we think it's fantastic that there is now a platform for showcasing the industry's finest moments and to celebrate the role of music and sound design in the production of adverts.

On 23rd February 2012, London's KOKO will play host to the ceremony. The night itself is a surefire winner with live performances from The Noisettes, Newton Faulkner and The Phenomenal Handclap Band. There will also be DJ sets from Gary Numan & Ade Fenton as well the Club NME DJs. Overseeing proceedings on the night will be 6 Music's own Adam Buxton.

The Music & Sound Awards are casting their net far and wide to cover the whole spectrum of applied music. From the shortest ident to high-budget feature films such as Harry Potter gaining recognition through the awards, there's guaranteed to be some musical magic on display on the night.
