Hear No Evil Presents... #2 Domino Recording Company
So mention the Domino Recording Company and what do you think?
Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys? Both are responsible for giving Domino their first UK #1 albums and singles respectively, and arguably the reputation as one of the UK's most revered indie labels, but let's rewind to the beginning.
Label head Laurence Bell started Domino by licensing early recording from the likes of Sub Pop and Drag City, and then over time started signing artists directly to the label. These days, as well as Franz and Arctic Monkeys, Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, Queens of The Stone Age, Caribou and Anna Calvi have all found homes at Domino, on either the main label or under their 5 imprints.
Anyway without further ado, we've lined up some great tunes in this month's podcast from the UK's Domino Recording Co, celebrating 20 years in the business.
Have a listen and you'll hear some classic charm of Matthew E. White's 'Big Inner', the soul revivalism of The Child of Lov, the beautiful new release from former Coral man Bill Ryder-Jones and tracks from She & Him and Villagers' latest albums. Sit back and relax, we think you're in for a treat.
