How's your January been? How's the New Year aftermath detox going?
Are you really maintaining a Zen like state or like most have you gone back to shameful habits and business as usual?! Here at HNE, once the cobwebs of Christmas had been banished, the rest of the month literally flew by. The new decade has kicked off in the best way possible with some great releases, exiting up & coming bands & solo artists, big campaigns & a massive amount of work!! Phew!
As we look towards a fresh new decade we asked our good old friend Joe Muggs - music editor at the Arts Desk to take a nostalgic look at the trends of the last decade. Highlighting the particularly strong reemergence of 2-Step & Garage, he points out why this trend looks set to stay both in the mainstream and underground for some time to come.
We also have our regular in-house mix of all things new at HNE towers. This month's stand out album has to be Four Tet's new offering 'There Is Love In You' on Domino Records. Kieran Hebden is back to the blazing quality of 'Rounds' but with a bigger, more cerebral dance-floor orientated vibe. Another belter to come out this month is Mux Mool's 2010 full-length debut,'Skulltaste' on Ghostly International.
There's also the epic 'We Were Promised Jetpacks' track and we're hugely exited about hearing much more over 2010 from our new label friends Fat Cat. Also featured are some fresh Mayer Hawthorn on Stones Throw, Border Community's newly acquired Luke Abbott, a remix of Wax Stag's 'Sugarette' from Bibio on Warp and a brand new track from Phantogram's debut album 'Eyelid Movies' also on Ghostly.
That brings us to the end of this month's tidy offerings - if you want any more info, or music, just give us a call.
